Michael Snape, Catwork

In 2008 Michael Snape was commissioned to make a work for The Cat Protection Society and found that all of the cats he had known and owned or loved and loathed came back to haunt him. "Cats are almost without exception narcissistic. Everything they do is dedicated to appearance, from cleaning themselves to stealing down the street, to sleeping and yawning, scratching and ignoring stuff. Every expression gives forth a body shape," he says. Snape has created plywood cats, made by dragging the blade of a circular saw across the face of the wood.
